Constantine Manos was born in 1934 in South Carolina to Greek immigrant parents. His photographic career began when he was 13, in the school camera club, and within a few years he was a professional photographer. Manos's photographs are in the permanent collections of New York's Museum of Modern Art, Art Institute of Chicago, Bibliothèque Nationale, and others. He is a member of Magnum Photos, and has numerous books of published work, including American Color (1995), a body of work which later earned him the Leica Medal of Excellence, and A Greek Portfolio (republished 1999), which was exhibited at the Benaki Museum in Athens. Manos is also an active photography workshop leader and has taught classes at the Maine Media Workshops, the Center for Photography at Woodstock, and the Anderson Ranch Art Center, among others. This image is a vintage print from A Greek Portfolio.
