A rising regional star, Claire Beckett documents the soldiers, military training, and fabricated Iraqi spaces within America in her series “Simulating Iraq.” Holding a BA in anthropology from Kenyon College and an MFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Beckett is currently an Assistant Professor at the New England Institute of Art in Brookline, MA and a recipient of a Massachusetts Cultural Council Individual Artist Grant. From 2002-2004, Claire Beckett worked as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Republic of Benin, West Africa. Featured in the 2006 PRC exhibition DOCUMENT and the 2008 PRC Juried Exhibition, Beckett had two solo shows in the fall of 2008, including the University of Rhode Island's Photography Gallery in Kingston and Bernard Toale Gallery in Boston.
