An MIT scientist, Edgerton was a pioneer in the use of high speed electronic flash with this work in the 1940s. Edgerton produced a number of books illustrated by his pictures, often using rapid multiple flashes to build up a picture of a movement. His most well known images include those of a bullet passing through an apple and milk droplet.
