Gardner has received numerous grants and awards. Her photographs are part of many museum and private collections and have been published in magazines and journals of contemporary criticism. In Exploration: 10 Portfolios, Aperture selected her as one of “ten of the finest emerging photographers from around the world.” (NY: issue130). This image is from the portfolio Reverence Dread and Wonder, included in Women in Documentary Photography, an exhibition and CD-ROM put together by the Springfield Museum of Art in Ohio, 2000.
