Fine art photographer, Rod Dresser (1933-2011) was born in Watsonville and raised in Carmel, California. After a career in the military, Dresser took up photography. A chance meeting with Ansel Adams led to Dresser assuming the position of Adamsí special photographic assistant until the late 1980ís before he began taking commercial commissions in San Francisco. With landscape as his subject, Dresser created increasingly abstract compositions in black and white, emphasizing texture and simplicity.

Dresser has exhibited his work at galleries in Taos, Austin, San Francisco, and Tokyo. His work resides in major collections around the country, including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MA) and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (CA).

In 2002, he published the monograph Artistís Choice.

Dresser is represented by the Weston Gallery in Carmel, California.
