ArcGIS Pro is a popular commercial Geographic Information System (GIS) software package used to manage, analyze, and visualize spatial data. This software has a broad use of applications, including research, emergency response planning, tracking location of utility lines and their condition, and identifying prime locations for cell phone towers or wind turbines. This tutorial is for those who are new to GIS and need a basic orientation on GIS theory and using ArcGIS Pro. The tutorial is split into two key portions. The first portion reviews basic concepts of how a computer knows where something is located on earth and how a computer represents spatial data on a map. The second portion is hands on where we will start up ArcGIS Pro and will accomplish simple tasks such as creating a project, importing data, using map navigation tools, changing projections, exploring attribute table, applying symbology, and adding labels.
