2019 ARROWS Annual Lecture, featuring Dr. Evelynn Hammonds

The ARROWS Annual Lecture recognizes individuals with extraordinary records of leadership and vision in addressing issues facing women in STEM fields. The 2019 Lecture, titled "Women in STEM in the 21st Century: The Stories We Tell and the Action We Need" will be given by Dr. Evelynn M. Hammonds, the Department Chair and Barbara Gutmann Rosenkrantz Professor of the History of Science and Professor of African and African American Studies at Harvard University. Prof. Hammonds has published articles on the history of disease, race and science, African American feminism, African-American women and the epidemic of HIV/AIDS and analyses of gender and race in science and medicine. Her current research focuses on diversity in STEM fields; the intersection of scientific, medical and socio-political concepts of race in the United States; and genetics and society.
