Poetry Reading: Phillis Levin and Peter McDonald

The Poetry Reading Series at Boston University presents a reading and conversation with poet American poet Phillis Levin and Irish poet Peter McDonald.

Phillis Levin is the author of five poetry collections: Temples and Fields (University of Georgia Press, 1988), winner of the Poetry Society of America’s Norma Farber First Book Award; The Afterimage (Copper Beech Press, 1995); Mercury (Penguin, 2001); May Day (Penguin, 2008); and Mr. Memory & Other Poems (Penguin, 2016). She is the editor of The Penguin Book of the Sonnet: 500 Years of a Classic Tradition in English (Penguin, 2001).

Peter McDonald teaches at Oxford University and has published six volumes of poetry since 1989, most recently Herne the Hunter (2016), and Collected Poems (2012). His translation of the Homeric Hymns appeared in 2016. His literary criticism includes Sound Intentions: The Workings of Rhyme in Nineteenth-Century Poetry (2012), Serious Poetry: Form and Authority from Yeats to Hill (2002), and Mistaken Identities: Poetry and Northern Ireland (1997). He is editing the Collected Poems of WB Yeats.
