Professor Crawford Publishes New Huffington Post Op-Ed About Afghan War Toll

Political Science and International Relations Professor Neta Crawford and Catherine Lutz (Brown University) recently published an Op-Ed on the Huffington Post. They take a thorough look at the data from the war in Afghanistan and focus on the costs in Afghanistan and Packistan. They conclude that “Since the initial invasion of Afghanistan 11 years ago this month, more than 128,000 people have died in Afghanistan and Pakistan in direct war-related violence. Indirect deaths, due to the destruction of infrastructure and lost access to food or health care, may number several times that. The toll in amputations and other injuries is also large, if poorly documented.”
