The BUPD maintains a lost & found at our headquarters, located at 32 Harry Agganis Way. Found property can be turned in 24 hours a day. Articles such as books, cellphones, keys, wallets, jewelry, etc. that are turned in are held for a period of time.

Every effort is made to return lost items to their rightful owners; however, it is the owner’s responsibility to report and/or claim lost articles. If you suspect your item has been stolen, call us at 617-353-2110 or visit the station to file a stolen property report.

Foundrop

The Boston University Police Department teamed up with Foundrop to help return recovered items to the BU community. Foundrop is a free service that allows users to inventory their property to help improve the chances of having recovered items returned.

Examples of registered items include bicycles, gaming consoles, jewelry, laptops, and other electronic devices.

If you lose an item, police departments working with Foundrop can help reunite users with their property by listing recovered items on the site or by reaching out to users who have flagged their property as missing.

Once users create a profile on Foundrop, they can take these actions:

  • Add photos, property descriptions, serial numbers, or other information.
  • Flag items in the database as in your possession, lost, or stolen.
  • Search the recovered-items database.

Boston University Police is a part of a network of law enforcement agencies nationwide that use Foundrop. The Foundrop service does not replace the need to file a police report when the property is stolen.

Please contact the Boston University Police Department at 1-617-353-2110 to report your stolen property.
