| Willy Mason lets his parents influence his music. The son of folk singers, he gained popularity after being discovered by Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst and signed to his label, Team Love. He then toured extensively in 2004 and 2005, doing shows with Death Cab for Cutie, Ben Kweller, and Radiohead and played at the South by Southwest music festival. Since this spring, he has been touring the US and Europe with Nina Violet on viola and backing vocals and Zak Borden on mandolin, supporting Beth Orton, KT Tunstall, and Radiohead once again.
Elvis Perkins comes from a long lineage of artists, and in the true spirit of artists, has suffered tragedy. He lost his father to AIDS and his mother in the September 11th attack. Through channeling both these sorrows and all his happiness into music, the result has been compared to Young, Cohen, Dylan, Simon, Lennon, and Van Morrison. He even collaborated with Gary Mallaber, Morrison's drummer on the album Moondance, for his full-length debut album. Played regularly on Los Angeles radio station KXLU, he has performed regularly in clubs around the city. Now having moved east, he plays around Manhattan and other East Coast cities, and resides in Providence.
