Description

Program evaluation helps social workers demonstrate the effectiveness of their programs and interventions, and is essential to practitioners in many different human service sectors. Measuring outcomes is an important part of program evaluation. Outcome measurement can help staff and managers improve program performance and, by so doing, improve clients' lives and secure the buy-in and support of boards and funders. The goal of this workshop is to help practitioners demystify and "befriend" program evaluation. Through this interactive workshop, participants become familiar with the basics of program evaluations, learning how to utilize outcomes and measurements for the purpose of planning, quality improvement and good social work practice. Participants have the opportunity to apply the skills to their own programs by developing program outcomes for future use.

Participants will:

1.     Be comfortable with the value and types of program evaluations in a social work setting.

2.     Understand how to use outcome measurement as a tool for planning and program improvement.

3.     Develop outcome measure for future use in participants' own program.
