Conflict Resolution and Mediation
Description
I. Deal with Conflict Effectively: Tools for the Social Worker’s Toolbox
Overall, our training approach is based on a model that combines presentations with experiential learning. Those skills related to effective conflict management are best learned by practice. We therefore include the opportunity for such practical application through a format that is interactive, engaging, and draws from your group’s own experiences.
II. Mediation: Everything you wanted to know about this approach to intervening in conflict!
Participants will learn about how mediation works for a broad range of disputes: Family matters: couples separating, dealing with parenting and financial issues; parents and teens; eldercare issues. Housing: landlord-tenant, condo owners. Workplace. Business/Commercial. Schools. Courts…and more.
For those interested in becoming a mediator and/or adding mediation skills to their social work repertoire, participants will learn about how mediators are trained, what the statute that governs mediator confidentiality is in Massachusetts, and the rich network of mediation resources, both locally and nationally.
