Suicide Assessment & Prevention in Addiction Recovery - 6 CECs
Research shows that suicide is the leading cause of death among people who abuse drugs and alcohol (Wilcox, 2004). In the last year, there have been an increase in opiate use and drugs overdose rates in Massachusetts, often associated with suicide. This training is highly interactive and offers participants hands-on opportunities to learn various suicide assessment tools necessary for effective suicide prevention. These skills will be presented, integrating Motivational Interviewing (MI) as well as strength based community models such as Question, Persuade and Refer (QPR). These skills could be applied to individuals in addiction recovery, youth, etc
