Basic Coaching Certificate Program Part I
Description
By popular demand, we are offering Part I of the basic coach training program in a different format to enable participants to complete Part II in the spring semester.
Coaching in all its forms continues to gain in popularity and is a natural extension of social work practice. It builds upon traditional social work values with an emphasis on “forwarding the action” through goal clarification and attainment, as well as “deepening the learning” to facilitate client change in a variety of life areas such as work, health, and personal well being.
Taught by Marilyn Edelson, social work coaching expert and author of Values-Based Coaching: A Guide for Social Workers and Other Human Service Professionals, this course helps participants understand how coaching is distinguished from therapy and consulting, and teaches the core skills that will help you get started whether you plan to integrate the learning in your existing work, or develop a coaching practice.
Meets: Fri, 1/24 and Sat, 1/25 9:00-3:30, Mon. evening 2/3, 2/10 and 3/3 from 6:00-9:00 pm and Fri 3/14 and Sat. 3/15 9:00-3:30 on the B.U. Campus. 3 CE’s for social work. Other professions must check with their professional organization.
