Finding Balance and Calm in a 24/7 World: Self-Care for the Caregiver and the Clients
Description
In a culture that tells us "faster is better," how do we create conditions - for ourselves and our clients - that invite renewal, depth, and joy in our daily lives? The mental health consequences of our culture's "disease of a-thousand-things-to-do" are serious. Due to "chronic busyness," many people are cut off from their deeper feelings, creative possibilities, spiritual sustenance, and sometimes the people they love. As mental health professionals, our skills are needed to help people cope with the stresses of life in a speed-obsessed, time-starved society. Through didactic presentation and experiential exercises, participants are introduced to skills and tools for working effectively with ourselves and others to promote balanced living. Ms. Seixas will introduce her core practices for self-care in a 24/7 world, highlighted in her book, Finding the Deep River Within; A Woman's Guide to Recovering Balance and Meaning in Everyday Life.
