Description

Unexpressed grief is often an "elephant in the room" that interferes with client functioning and the healing work done by clients and social workers. This workshop explores the negative impact of unexpressed grief and provides participants with practical skills to help clients express grief in safe ways that increase coping and promote healing. Utilizing short lectures and large group discussion, participants learn basic grief theory and explore the scholarly literature from various grief models. Through case study and small group role plays, participants apply practical tools and techniques to "real-time" grieving situations to consolidate learning.
