New Perspectives on Grief and Loss: Helping Survivors Heal
Description
The grieving process is still widely defined by Kubler-Ross's forty-year-old research that produced the "Five Stages of Grief" model. However, ideas and perspectives about grief, the grieving process, and how loss affects survivors throughout their lives, have continued to evolve. The presenter, Dr. Susan Berger, author of The Five Ways We Grieve, provides clinicians with an update on new grief research, exploring contemporary concepts about the grieving process. Using didactic presentation, case examples and small group discussion, participants learn to differentiate between different kinds of loss and emerge with new approaches for assessing loss and assisting bereaved clients in the grieving process.
