Jacques Pépin: Rememberence of Things Past
Jacques Pépin was born in the Bourg-en-Bresse near Lyon, where his first exposure to cooking was as a child in his parents' restuarant, Le Pélican. Today, Jacques Pépin is one of America's best-known chefs, cookbook authors, and cooking teachers, and has published more than 26 books - including his autobiagraphy, The Apprentice - and numerous articles. He has hosted 10 acclaimed public television cooking series. Pépin, along with Julia Child, founded the Certificate Program in the Culinary Arts and the Master of Liberal Arts in Gastronomy at Boston University, where he continues to teach each semester. Jacques and his colleague, accalimed chef Jean Claude Szurdak, will return to Boston University to recreate a bistro meal from Le Pélican, using Pépin's mother's recipes, and recalling the beginning of his apprenticeship. Regional wines will be paired.
