Residential and Community Living Certificate Program

Description

Obtain a clear understanding of the core knowledge, skills, and values needed to work effectively with older adults in residential housing or living at home in the community. Social workers and other social service providers play a critical role in helping older adults enhance the quality of their lives and in supporting them to remain active and independent in the community. This Certificate explores the supports needed for and barriers to aging in place, legal issues involved in community living, and supportive housing options and programs.
 
The required courses are:

  • Aging in PlaceDriving Transitions with Older Adults
  • Elder Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation
  • Legal Issues in Aging
  • Working with Informal Caregivers
