DESCRIPTION OF EVENT:
The Health Law Department at Boston University's School of Public Health will host this national conference to critically re-examine the rights of patients in America. The conference will discuss whether the rights included in the congressional bills actually expand or limit patient protections. Distinguished leaders of the patient rights movement will assess whether patient rights have made any difference to physicians and patients, and whether they should survive the ongoing changes in medical practice and health insurance. Other questions to be addressed are: Is informed consent obsolete for managed care consumers? Is patient confidentiality compatible with the use of information technology for record keeping and monitoring the quality of care? How should patient rights be defined and enforced in the future?
COST:
$350 per person.
The media are invited to attend.
