JACQUES PEPIN TO HOST 20TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF THE BOSTON UNIVERSITY CULINARY ARTS PROGRAM THROUGH METROPOLITAN COLLEGE
“The Big Event” to celebrate the Anniversary of BU’s Unique, Hands-On Gastronomic Program

(Boston) – Award-winning chef, television personality and author Jacques Pepin hosts “The Big Event”, a celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Boston University Culinary Arts Program through Metropolitan College on October 28, 2009. Taking place at the 808 Gallery, located at 808 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, the event will include tastings from over 60 local food and wine vendors, book signing opportunities from Jacques Pepin and other notable culinary authors, and a silent auction to benefit Metropolitan College’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute scholarship fund.

Founded by cooking extraordinaire Julia Child in the Spring of 1989, the culinary program examines the role of food in historical and contemporary societies from various perspectives. Director of Special Programs for Metropolitan College Rebecca Alssid said: “The 20th Anniversary coinciding with the release of the film Julie & Julia is greatly timed and we wish Julia could have been here to celebrate this exciting time with us.”

Vendors participating in the event with food and wine tastings will include Todd English’s King Fish Hall, Eastern Standard’s Jackson Cannon and Garrett Harker, Au Bon Pain, BLM’s Wine & Spirits, and The Wine Gallery’s Alex Ostrov. Attendees of “The Big Event” will be graduates of the Certificate Program in the Culinary Arts, the incredible chefs, authors, and teachers who have been part of the Culinary Arts program over the years, and other members of the Boston-area culinary community.
