BOSTON UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER APPOINTS NEW CHIEF, CHAIRMAN OF PATHOLOGY

(Boston) – Daniel G. Remick, Jr., MD, has been appointed to the positions of Chief of the Division of Pathology at Boston Medical Center and Professor and Chairman of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine.

Prior to these appointments, Remick served as a professor in the Department of Pathology at the University of Michigan and Assistant Dean of Admissions at the University of Michigan Medical School.

“Dr. Remick is an outstanding academician who has been a leader in research and education,” said BUSM Dean Karen Antman, MD, provost of the Boston University Medical Campus. “We look forward to working with him.”

Remick received his medical degree from the Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minnesota. He completed his residency in Anatomic Pathology and a fellowship in Immunopathology at the University of Michigan.

“Dr. Remick brings a wealth of clinical experience to this role and we look forward to the leadership he will provide to the Division of Pathology,” said Elaine Ullian, BMC president and CEO.

Remick’s research interests are currently funded by three grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and include examining the inflammatory response in patients with severe infections, patients with asthma and deciphering the molecular pathways regulating ongoing inflammation. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed manuscripts, and served as the Chair of the Surgery, Anesthesiology and Trauma study section at the NIH.

Remick is an associate editor for the journal Shock and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Infectious Diseases. He is a member of the Shock Society, the American Society of Investigative Pathologists, the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology and the American Association and Immunologists.

Honored with multiple awards, Remick is the recipient of the University of Michigan’s Medical Student Teaching Award for Teaching Excellence.
