BusinessWeek puts BU undergrad program 2nd in Boston area, top 20 nationally, in accounting and corporate strategy

BusinessWeek’s recent “top undergraduate business schools” specialty rankings have placed the undergraduate program at Boston University School of Management 2nd in the Boston area and in the top 30 nationally across multiple disciplines, with a top 20 ranking in accounting and corporate strategy.
These rankings come on the heels of a slew of honors for the School’s undergraduate students—including their triumph over Harvard and MIT MBAs in the 2009 Investment Research Challenge and APICS operations management case competition—highlighting the unique strength of BU’s undergraduate management curriculum.
The BusinessWeek specialty rankings include the following placements:
- Accounting: BU is #13 nationally; 2nd in Boston area and in New England
- Corporate Strategy: BU is #18 nationally, 2nd in Boston area and in New England
- Financial Management: BU is #27 nationally, 2nd in Boston area, 3rd in New England
- Quantitative Methods: BU is #27 nationally, 3rd in Boston area and New England
- Marketing: BU is #22 nationally, 3rd in Boston area and 4th in New England
Detailing how they conducted these assessments, BusinessWeek explains, “As part of [our] 2009 ranking of top undergraduate business schools, we surveyed thousands of business majors at more than 100 schools about how well their schools teach standard academic specialties. Students were asked to rank their program on a scale of 1 to 5 for each of a dozen specialties. “
