With a background in web- and network-based technologies dating back to high school, Andrew Binns (BSBA ’09) was hired as part of the technology group staff working on John Kerry’s 2004 campaign for president−even before Binns entered college. Later, in 2008, he was offered a nine-month appointment as lead project manager of technology at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
To date, as a technology consultant, Andrew has worked on more than a dozen local and state political campaigns, from those for state rep to governor. He develops applications and infrastructure, and has built several campaign web sites.
The way Boston University School of Management integrates technology throughout the learning experience really shows that the School understands how business works in the real world” − Andrew Binns
“Going into my undergraduate career already having work experience was the best thing for me. It made college much more enriching and interesting,” Binns says. “As a student and business owner, if I learn something on Monday, I can go home Monday night, open up a campaign plan I’ve been working on, and apply those marketing or OM fundamentals right away. I can also bring that immediate real-world application back to the classroom and report to the rest of the class.”
