In BusinessWeek magazine’s latest ranking of fulltime MBA programs, Boston University School of Management is listed among the top 6 in New England and the top 45 in the nation. (There are more than 1000 full-time MBA programs offered in the United States.) The School—posting its highest results to date in this particular survey—is also listed 14th for return-on-investment nationally and received the grade of “A” from students surveyed for quality of teaching.
“We are pleased that our MBA program is receiving increasingly favorable recognition, although ‘rankings’ data need to be supplemented by an in-depth understanding of each school’s offerings. Our faculty’s approach to fusing the art, science, and technology of business is uniquely preparing effective builders and leaders, evidenced by the expanding number of recruiters seeking out our graduates.”

The methodology incorporates a student survey, a corporate recruiter survey, and an intellectual capital rating, which is comprised of faculty publications in 20 top academic journals.
Overall, the School was ranked in the top 45 in the nation, and the top 6 in New England. Students surveyed cited the team learning approach, the quality of the faculty and the ability to customize the MBA experience as contributing factors in their ratings. The School of Management ranked in the top 22 for selectivity, placing it 5th in New England for that category.
“We’ve had to become increasingly selective,” observes Assistant Dean of Graduate Admissions, Hayden Estrada. “Word has gotten around about our terrific specialty programs and our ability to customize an academic experience to suit the professional goals of each candidate.
“95% of our 2008 MBA class had job offers within three months of graduation, placing BU graduates within the top 15 business schools in the country. That's also why our students receive salary offers nearly 10% higher than the national average.”
Catherine Ahlgren Assistant Dean of Career Services, Boston University School of Management
We have programs leveraging the latest technology developments, focusing on health sector and non-profit management, and many being taught overseas. BU does an excellent job of meeting the specific career needs of unique candidates.”
In the return-on-investment category, the School ranked 14th nationally, placing it 2nd in New England and 1st in Boston. This category represents the number of years to recoup business school costs, including tuition and living expenses.
