From Reputation to Results
I’m from Bethany, Conn., where I attended Amity High School, and I chose Boston University because of the reputation of the business school—it was my No. 1 choice. The School has always felt right to me.
My concentration is in marketing. I am very interested in the creative aspect of the business world, and I hope to pursue a career in event management. I have learned a lot about consumer behavior and believe that this knowledge will be imperative to my success in the marketing field. Also, I think that my experience working in teams will benefit me as I move into the real world.
The SMG curriculum has helped me grow into a well-rounded business woman. Although I am not as advanced in certain function areas—such as information systems—I have still been introduced to those subjects and gained foundational skills that I can carry with me.
Flagship Experiences
My favorite professor at SMG is Vini Onyemah. I have taken two of his classes and think he is an amazing teacher, as well as a great person. He genuinely cares about all his students and goes out of his way to explain course material, as well as help his students find internships and jobs. The first class I had with him was MK323 during my junior year (CORE). He gave fantastic feedback to my team and guided us as we completed our business plan. It was MK323 with Professor Onyemah that made me realize I wanted to pursue a career in marketing.
Another great class was SM411. I think it prepared me exceptionally well for my internship searches as well as for my job search. Information regarding interview preparation and resume writing were most helpful. For a while, I was helping all my friends write their resumes!
