Columbus, OH – December 22, 2010 – Carl A. Aveni, II, of Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP, has been inducted into the International Association of Defense Counsel.

The IADC is an invitation-only professional association for corporate and insurance defense lawyers around the world.  It has been serving a distinguished membership of corporate and insurance defense attorneys since 1920. Its activities benefit approximately 2,500 invitation-only, peer-reviewed members and their clients as well as the civil justice system and the legal profession. The IADC takes a leadership role in many areas of legal reform and professional development.

“I am incredibly honored to be inducted into the IADC, and I hope to make a difference by lending my expertise to the worthwhile goals of the association,” Aveni said.

The IADC membership is comprised of the world’s leading corporate and insurance lawyers. IADC members handle cases in all jurisdictions and have been involved in many precedent setting decisions and appeals. Their responsibilities include chairmanships of national and state committees of the American Bar Association; presidents of Inns of Court and state and local bar associations; presidents of trade and law associations and chambers of commerce; and board members of corporations, academic institutions, charities, and special legal organizations. Being part of the IADC means you have experienced success in your career and are committed to supporting your profession.

Aveni concentrates his practice on the defense of complex commercial disputes and business torts, including the trial of major litigation matters before regulatory agencies, as well as state and federal courts. He has successfully argued before the Ohio Supreme Court and The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Appellate Circuit, as well as numerous state appellate courts.

The law firm of Carlile Patchen & Murphy has for over 40 years concentrated on responsively serving the legal and business needs of mid-sized Central Ohio businesses and their owners and executives. Beyond the traditional advice on choice of the appropriate business entity and structure of ownership interests, the firm lends its extensive experience in counseling on financing, tax planning and operations; and ultimately to sale or transfer of the business to a strategic buyer, the employees or succeeding generations.  Employment matters, and litigation if all else fails, are also areas where the firm’s attorneys frequently offer skilled advice and timely assistance.
