CHICAGO, October 12, 2010-The Health Law Consultancy has received top placement on the list of Illinois' "Best Law Firms" in the 2010 inaugural U.S. News-Best Lawyers survey. The Health Law Consultancy was the only health law boutique firm among the seven law firm health law practices ranked "first-tier" in Illinois. The two founders of The Health Law Consultancy-Jack Rovner and Kathy Roe-were also individually named among "The Best Lawyers in America" in Health Care Law.
"Having launched our firm just one year ago, we are delighted and honored to be recognized as a top health law practice," said Jack Rovner. "Our first-tier ranking by U.S. News-Best Lawyers affirms our vision in launching The Health Law Consultancy as a different kind of legal advisory-one that applies health law strategically for our clients' business benefit and uses an innovative business model of predictable project pricing for assured client budgeting."
With nearly 60 years of combined legal experience, the founders of The Health Law Consultancy formed the firm with a unique objective in mind: apply health law strategically to help health care organizations capitalize on the opportunities and manage the challenges of the evolving health system. Focused on the intersection of law and business, the principals of The Health Law Consultancy are working with a variety of health industry participants to develop winning strategies for the market changes of federal health reform, expanded government health benefit programs, innovative health care delivery vehicles like "accountable care organizations" and "medical homes," and health information technology adoption.
"Historically-and particularly in today's complex health care environment-companies often view the law as an obstacle," explained Kathy Roe. "We see the law differently-as a set of rules to be mastered for competitive advantage and as a source of opportunities for business benefit in product and service expansion and innovation."
The methodology for the U.S. News-Best Lawyers "Best Law Firms" survey involved canvassing thousands of law firm clients and leading lawyers. The survey rankings are based on nearly 10,000 client responses, which included responses from every Fortune 100 company and more than half of the Fortune 1000 companies and from nearly 9,000 leading lawyers. Each party surveyed was asked what factors are considered vital for hiring law firms, for choosing law firms to which to refer legal matters, and for seeking legal employment. Critical factors in the ranking include demonstrable expertise, responsiveness, understanding of a particular industry and its business needs, cost-effectiveness, civility, and willingness to refer others to the law firm.
Selection to the list of Best Lawyers in America is based on an exhaustive and rigorous peer-review survey comprising evaluations by the country's top attorneys. No fee or purchase is required to participate in or vote for the Best Lawyers in America, making inclusion in "Best Lawyers" a particular accomplishment.
The law firm rankings are available in the October print edition of U.S. News & World Report, as well as online.
