Practical Law Company web access for BU Law students

04.07.10

For a new benefit to students interested in transactional, securities and finance law, Dean Maureen O’Rourke announced a free new deal with the Practical Law Company.

BU Law students and new graduates will get free access to the PLC’s online programs, such as resources and how-to guides on transactional law, and other tools that will provide a basic understanding of this area of practice that will help them at summer jobs and associate positions. Graduating 3Ls will receive extended access after graduation to help prepare for interviews and firm positions.

Another available resource includes the "Summer Associate Survival Guide," which gives tips on running a closing, forming a corporation, drafting agreements, conducting due diligence and more.

PLC started in the United Kingdom and has expanded their services to law firms and law schools in the United States. PLC's resources are written by experienced lawyers from major law firms, such as Latham & Watkins, Debevoise & Plimpton, Dewey & Lebouef, O'Melveny & Myers, Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison, Allen & Overy, and Sidley Austin LLP.

Take a quick virtual tour of PLC's resources here:

The CDO and law library is also planning two programs this semester on how PLC can aid in interviews for positions focusing on transactional law, and how to succeed in a summer position or future position that focuses on transactional law.
