Christi Braun ('01) of Ober|Kaler named "Outstanding Healthcare Antitrust Lawyer"
WASHINGTON, DC - January 20, 2010 The law firm Ober|Kaler announced today that Christi J. Braun, a principal in the firm's Health Law and Litigation Groups, has been selected by Nightingale's Healthcare News for its 2009 ranking of "Outstanding Healthcare Antitrust Lawyers." She is one of only twelve lawyers from across the country selected for this honor.
Ms. Braun, who was recently elected a principal at Ober|Kaler, represents health care clients, including physicians, hospitals, ancillary care providers, trade associations and insurers, in antitrust compliance, litigation of antitrust and other complex commercial matters, review of mergers, and structuring joint ventures. Her antitrust experience includes representation of clients in federal and state courts and before the Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission. Prior to joining Ober|Kaler, she was a staff attorney in the Health Care Services & Products Division of the Federal Trade Commission.
In naming Ms. Braun to the ranking, Nightingale's cited her obtainment of a favorable FTC advisory opinion for TriState Health Partners regarding a proposed clinical integration program, and her successful representation of a defendant on plaintiffs' appeal in Little Rock Cardiology Clinic, et al. v. Baptist Health, et al.
Ms. Braun is a frequent lecturer on antitrust and health care topics at professional seminars and conferences around the country.
She is active in the American Bar Association, where she serves as Vice Chair of the Health Care and Pharmaceuticals Committee of the Antitrust Law Section; as a Council Member of the Health Law Section; and as the Young Lawyers Division's Liaison to the Health Law Section. She is also a member of the District of Columbia, Colorado and Denver Bar Associations, and is active in the American Health Lawyers Association's Antitrust and Health Information Technology Practice Groups.
Ms. Braun is a graduate of Boston University School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 2001), Boston University School of Public Health (M.P.H., 2002) and Creighton University (B.A., summa cum laude, 1998). She resides in Alexandria, Virginia.
