October 15, 2009In today's world, everyone is a writer. Writing skills are important not just for future public relations specialists or authors, but for lawyers, business people, and all manner of specialists. On Tuesday, October 20, Boston University celebrated the National Day on Writing. Students, faculty, and staff participated in an exciting lineup of events to celebrate writing in all parts of our lives.
Events included a Writer's Fair at the GSU Link, where participants created Giant Fridge-Magnet Poetry and recorded 30-second Writer's Testimonials. Writer's Workshops were held at various locations at the GSU. Topics included poetry, screenwriting, rap lyrics, family biographies, film reviews, and PowerPoints.
In the evening, aspiring writers participated in Coffee House Readings at the GSU Back Court. BU's National Day on Writing festivities were sponsored by the College of Arts & Sciences, the College of Communication, and the College of General Studies.
