YUCHANYAN AND THE WORLD'S OLDEST POTTERY
A report on "Radiocarbon dating of charcoal and bone collagen associated with early pottery at Yuchanyan Cave, Hunan Province, China" was published June 1, 2009, in the Early Edition of PNAS online. Excavations at Yuchanyan Cave, involving BU faculty members David Cohen and Paul Goldberg, produced secure dates of around 18,000 years ago for early pottery in China.

PARTNERSHIP ESTABLISHED WITH KYUSHU UNIVERSITY ARCHAEOLOGY DEPARTMENT
An "Agreement of Consortium Partnership" was signed formally building a bridge between BU's Department of Archaeology and the Archaeology Department at Kyushu University. The purpose of the consortium is to develop academic and educational cooperation and to promote relations and mutual understanding between our two institutions.
