Caitlin Corbett Dance Company: 25th Anniversary Concert

Caitlin Corbett Dance Company will perform new and repertory work at Boston University on December 11 and 12, 2009. Four premieres will be included in this program. Heart Starvation, a solo for Corbett choreographed by Peter Schmitz; Half/Puolet, a duet danced and choreographed by Corbett and Finnish choreographer/dancer Mia Keinanen (choreographed during Corbett's Fulbright grant in Helsinki); Quiet Line/Hiljainen Viiva, a sextet for company members using music/sound of Steve Reich, Nico Muhly and Ann Steuernagel (choreographed during Corbett's Fulbright grant in Helsinki); duetduet, fifteen 1-minute duets danced by members of the local community. Also included in the program is Little Known Facts (2006) and Three Quartets (2004). This project is being funded in part by a 2009 Cambridge Arts Council Creating and Presenting grant. 9th Annual Boston University Terrier Dancesport Competition

Ballroom competition featuring dancers from studios and colleges all over New England. Admission is only $10 at the door. DanceSport is the reference to competitive ballroom dancing. Because many people still associate ballroom with dances such as the waltz and tango, a more creative name was developed to give a more appealing image that encompasses all 19 of the ballroom dances.
