Wade Rathke, the founder of ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now), the nation's largest grassroots community organization of low- and moderate income people, will present on his new book which lays out a comprehensive grassroots strategy to create what he calls "citizen wealth." Rights, Equality, and Justice: A Conference Inspired by the Moral and Legal Theory of David Lyons

Sponsored by BU Law and BU's Department of Philosophy The conference will feature many outstanding scholars in law and philosophy who will deliver papers and commentaries, along with a response by Professor David Lyons. The Boston University Law Review will publish the principal papers and proceedings. David B. Lyons is Law Alumni Scholar and Professor of Law and Philosophy at Boston University, where he has taught since 1995. Previously, he was a distinguished faculty member of Cornell University from 1964 to 1995. He has published a number of significant books in moral, political and legal theory, including The Forms and Limits of Utilitarianism (Clarendon Press, 1965); In the Interests of the Governed: A Study in Bentham’s Philosophy of Utility and Law (Clarendon Press, 1973); Ethics and the Rule of Law (Cambridge University Press, 1984); Moral Aspects of Legal Theory (Cambridge University Press, 1993); and Rights, Welfare, and Mill’s Moral Theory (Oxford University Press, 1994). He also has written numerous important articles in these fields, both in law reviews and philosophy journals. All – including not only professors, law students, graduate students, and undergraduates, but also alumni and members of the public – are welcome to attend. WCBCT Congress 2010

Boston University and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) have the pleasure of hosting the 6th World Congress of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (WCBCT) in Boston, Massachusetts, on the campus of Boston University. The WCBCT is held every three years in various countries around the world. It provides an opportunity for cognitive and behavior researchers and clinicians from all corners of the globe to meet, discuss common problems, exchange ideas, and further develop the science of evidence based cognitive and behavioral treatments.
