The Role of a Civil Liberties Lawyer in the U.S.

Lee Gelernt, deputy director of the ACLU’s national Immigrants’ Rights Project, will speak about his work. Gelernt has litigated numerous civil rights cases in the areas of national security and immigration. He will discuss his observation of a military trial at Guantánamo Bay, the transformation of his work since the September 11, 2001, attacks, and public interest law.
