Tri-Service Veteran's Day Vigil

In observance of Veteran’s Day over 200 cadets from all three services of Boston University’s Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program will participate in a 24-hour vigil on campus to honor veterans, Prisoners of War (POW), and those Missing In Action (MIA). The vigil is sponsored by the Lance P. Sijan Squadron of the Arnold Air Society. Arnold Air Society, composed of Air Force ROTC cadets, is a professional, honorary service organization affiliated with Air Force ROTC and the Air Force Association.

This twenty-four hour event honoring those who have served before us will begin at 3:00 p.m. on November 5th, and concludes with a retreat ceremony and 'Taps' at 3:00 p.m. on November 6th.

During the vigil, uniformed pairs of Air Force and Army ROTC cadets, as well as Navy ROTC midshipmen, will march between the American and POW/MIA flags that will flank the Marsh Chapel Plaza area. Changing of the guard occurs every 20 minutes during the vigil. During the closing ceremony on November 6th, cadets will perform a trick rifle routine and a flag folding ceremony will take place.

This event is sure to be a poignant and moving experience for all in attendance.
