Boston University Shakespeare Society is re-interpreting one of the most controversial works in the Bard’s cannon. This version of The Taming of the Shrew puts the Minola family and company in conservative, late 60s America while the “shrewish” Katherine is the only one who changes with the tumultuous times. With issues of sexism and manipulation combined with slapstick comedy and some of Shakespeare’s most low-brow jokes, this production is sure to leave audiences laughing, crying, or both. *Content Warning* This show deals with sensitive themes such as domestic violence/abuse. There are also gun shot sound effects, blood, and crude, sometimes sexually explicit humor. If you or someone you know is struggling with domestic abuse please contact the Sexual Assault Response and Prevention Center at (617) 353-7277. |
