Kleh Lecture: Income Inequality and International Economic Law

This talk will consider the ways in which international law has shaped economic inequality. Income inequality in many countries, including our own, has recently reached a higher point than at any time in many decades. But should we be concerned about economic inequality when, simultaneously, aggregate global poverty has fallen dramatically? How are increasing economic inequality and decreasing global poverty possible at the same time, and how are both dynamics shaped by international law? What path lies ahead to ensure a sustainable future for all? Cornell Law School Professor Chantal Thomas joins BU Law this year as the William & Patricia Kleh Visiting Professor in International Law and will deliver the Kleh Lecture on "Income Inequality and International Law." Her scholarship focuses on the relationship between international law, political economy, and global social justice in a variety of contexts, with a focus on international trade and international migration.
