Visit from the Supreme Judicial Court Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services

Summary

Visit from the Supreme Judicial Court Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services

Description

Please join us in welcoming the Supreme Judicial Court Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services to BU School of Law.

The Supreme Judicial Court Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services, established in August 1999, works to promote volunteer legal work in Massachusetts to help people of limited means who are in need of legal representation. The Committee oversees the Adams Pro Bono Awards each year. It also has a variety of ongoing initiatives to increase pro bono legal services throughout Massachusetts.

BU students involved in pro bono work and faculty and alumni who have expanded opportunities for student involvement in pro bono service will speak about their experiences and ways you can get involved. Supreme Judicial Court Associate Justice Ralph D. Gants, the Justice member of the Committee and Co-Chair of the Massachusetts Access to Justice Commission, will also reflect on the importance of pro bono work in the Massachusetts legal community. We will end the program with a small reception and light hors d’oeuvres in advance of the Public Interest Project Auction.
