One Million Bones is a large-scale social arts practice that aims to raise awareness of ongoing genocide and violent conflicts by using the unifying power of art. The goal of the project is to lay 1,000,000 hand-crafted bones on the National Mall in Washington D.C. in June of 2013 as a visual petition against such atrocities, as well as a symbol of our shared humanity. Through a partnership with the Students Rebuild challenge, each bone made will trigger a $1 donation towards CARE’s relief work in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Somalia.
