School of Management’s Rise to the Challenge: A GPS Urban Adventure
The roots of experiential adventure education at Boston University run deep. When corporate challenge course trainings were in their infancy in the 1970s, the School of Management was running one called the Executive Challenge program. In the early 2000s, BU has brought the adventure home to the city streets of Boston through GPS-based urban adventure programs. In 2012, the School of Management invested $1 million to create a classroom of the future. Come see how the classroom technology of tomorrow is changing the educational landscape while participating in this fun adventure through the streets of Boston. The basic format gets teams racing through the city, guided by GPS, solving puzzles and completing team-building challenges along the way via smartphones and other technology. Facilitators follow the activities in progress and conclude the program with a final debrief. T passes will be provided and students will be assigned to each team to help navigate Boston’s sometime challenging terrain.
