50 Years of Women on Television

Part of the Communication Research Colloquium Series, this talk will focus on the image of women on prime time television in the last 50 years. How has it changed? How has it stayed the same? The talk will be framed in terms of cultivation theory, focusing on the general representation of women, marital status, occupational status, and involvement in violence. In addition, how these images may impact viewers' conceptions about women and their role in society will be discussed. *Reception follows
