Please join the WLA and the CDO for lunch with Marsha S. Shaines, Deputy General Counsel of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC. Ms. Shaines works on a variety of legal matters for the Smithsonian’s museums and research institutes, including matters relating to nonprofit tax, contracts, museum business activities, fundraising and corporate sponsorship, and intellectual property. She lectures extensively to both legal and non-legal audiences on a variety of subjects of interest to museums, and has been a member of the faculty of the annual Legal Issues in Museum Administration conference since 1986. Ms. Shaines received her A.B. degree from Smith College, and her J.D. from Boston University.
