Betty Anderson's current research focuses on the development of political parties, national identity, and educational policies in Jordan, Palestine, and Lebanon. History Handbook, was published by Houghton Mifflin Press in 2003. Nationalist Voices in Jordan: The Street and the State, was published by the University of Texas Press in 2005. Professor Anderson's upcoming book, The American University of Beirut (AUB): America's Religious and Educational Legacy in the Middle East is contracted with the University of Texas Press.
