Melody Ko

Melody has traveled extensively as an international photojournalist, and her images have been featured in shows around the world. Her work has appeared in national book projects, including America 24/7 and A Day in the Life of the American Woman. Her photography is currently published and represented worldwide by national and international media outlets such as USAToday, Bloomberg News, and Getty Images.
Melody received one of the highest honors for photographers in the academic world when she was named 2008 National Photographer of the Year – Silver Medalist by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. Prior to her arrival at BU, she was director of photography and photographer at Tufts University.
Kalman Zabarsky

For 40 years, Kal has documented the growth and academic life of Boston.
His photographs have won several awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, most recently the 2009 Photographer of the Year—Silver Medal, and the University Photographers’ Association of America, including UPAA Best of Show 1999. He has exhibited his personal photographic work at Gallery NAGA, New England School of Photography, MIT, and Boston University, and his work is represented in the permanent collection at the DeCordova Museum and in private collections. Kal earned a BFA in painting from BU in 1969.

Vernon has 25 years of experience as a professional photographer, 12 of them working at Boston University. Whether wandering campus or working in the studio, he’s always in search of the perfect image. He enjoys the challenge of working at a major university with its diverse range of clients and projects.
Vern is a repeat winner at the annual University Photographers’ Association of America competition, where his work has won honors in several categories. UPAA awards included a first place for sports in 2007, a second place for personal vision in 2006, and a first place for personal vision in 2005. He has also contributed photography to winning design entries in competitions sponsored by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and the University & College Designers Association.

Rick has many years of experience working at BU. He is your first contact with our department and is responsible for the front-line communications by handling the scheduling of assignments, assisting with photo research requests, and handling daily office responsibilities.

Larry has many years of experience working at BU as the imaging technician. He is responsible for scanning, toning, and delivering the film and digital images for BU Photography.
