Professor of Philosophy
My main areas of research are the history of modern moral philosophy, the history of philosophical methodology (and some issues in metaphysics), and more recently the philosophy of art and the philosophy of film. Current projects include a monograph on seventeenth-century moral philosophy, a successor volume on eighteenth-century moral philosophy, and a book on montage and the philosophy of film.
