Interests: Ancient Philosophy

I joined the department in September 2010 following a postdoctoral research fellowship in the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Oxford. I was previously a lecturer in philosophy at Balliol College, Oxford, and I received my PhD from the University of Toronto in 2008. I work on ancient philosophy, especially Plato and Aristotle. I gravitate towards issues in metaphysics and epistemology, but I maintain lively interests in ethics as well. I’m particularly fond of studying very difficult texts–hence my current book project: Aristotle on Learning: The Posterior Analytics.

Publications include:

‘Meno’s Paradox in Posterior Analytics 1.1,’ Oxford Studies in Ancient Philosophy. Forthcoming, 2010.

Comments on G. Salmieri in Essays on Aristotle’s Posterior Analytics: Papers from the 2009 Duke-UNC-Chapel Hill Conference. Ed. J. Lesher. Forthcoming in 2010 as a special issue of Apeiron.
