p.m. Dr.
Stella Papasavva (GRS'92) has been a senior researcher at the research
and development center of General Motors Corporation since 1997. She is
working in the sustainable automotive futures program conducting life
cycle analysis assessments of automotive materials and processes. She
received an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in physical chemistry and international
environmental policy from Tufts University in 1997, an M.A. in the energy
and environmental studies from Boston University in 1992, and an M.A.
in physics from Northeastern University in 1988. Dr. Biruté Mary Galdikas was chosen by Dr. Louis Leakey to study the orangutan and has now spent 35 years in the field studying and saving the only Asian Great Ape—the longest ongoing continuous study of any mammal in the world. Dr. Galdikas has twice been featured on the cover of National Geographic and is the author of scores of scientific articles and reviews, as well as two books, including her autobiography, Reflections of Eden. She has won several prestigious awards, including being named Indonesia's Hero for the Earth, and is presently Professor Extraordinaire at the Universitas Nasional in Jakarta and Full Professor at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada.
