How to scan with Windows
Scanning Pictures with Adobe Photoshop
- Open the Scanning Applications folder on the desktop and double-click on Adobe Photoshop.
- From the Photoshop menu, choose File -> Import ->TWAIN_32
- Adjust the color settings according
to whether your image is color, grayscale, or black and white.
- Keep the resolution (or "dpi") low, as larger resolutions create larger image files. A resolution of 72dpi is usually good for Web images.
- If you need to reset any of the tools for contrast or brightness in the lower part of this window, just click directly on top of the picture of the tool and the setting will return to the standard (default) value. You can then drag the slider bar to further adjust the settings.
- Click on the Preview button to get a preview of the document to be scanned. Use the cursor to resize and move the dashed area to cover what is to be scanned. The scanner will scan only what is within the dashed lines
- Press Scan to scan the image. When the scan is complete, click Exit.
- The picture will appear in Photoshop.
Now you can choose how to save the picture.
- If you will be using the picture on the Web, choose File->Save For Web. This will save your file in an appropriate format for the Web.
- If the file is not going on the Web, choose File->Save As to save the file in the format desired.
- Save your file to your own disk or Zip disk. You can temporarily save to a folder on our computer desktop if you prefer but you cannot leave images on our computers after you leave the office - the files may get deleted.
- After the image is saved you can scan more pictures by choosing File->Import->TWAIN_32 or you can exit Photoshop by clicking on the X in the top right corner.
- Remember to copy your files to your own disk or mail them to yourself.
- Please erase any copies of your files from our computer and remove your original document from the scanner.
